How Much Do We Love Our New Offices? Enough to Make Us Dance!

September 20, 2018–This past Monday, September 17, VNSNY staff members from the CHHA, Clinical Operations Support, Weekend Operations, Customer Care, the Nurse-Family Partnership, Quality Care Management, Central Intake, CMHS, Population Health, Education, and UM and Assessment made the move from 1250 Broadway to the fifth and sixth floors of our new office space at 220 East 42nd Street.  Frontline VNSNY was there to catch their first reactions—check out the photo gallery below! Happy 125th Birthday to VNSNY and Henry Street Settlement!

September 17, 2018–VNSNY Joins Henry Street for a 125th Anniversary Party on Manhattan’s Lower East Side On Sunday afternoon, September 16th, just a stone’s throw from the building on Henry Street where Lillian Wald founded the Visiting Nurse Service of New York in 1893, VNSNY joined forces with its former sibling, the Henry Street Settlement, to mark their shared 125th anniversary. On a balmy late summer’s day, hundreds of community members came together with staff from the two organizations at the Sol Lain Playground on Manhattan’s Lower East Side to enjoy a range of ethnic cuisines representing the rich diversity of the community, as well as to participate in games, dancing, music, face-painting and other activities. The day’s highlight was the cutting of the official 125th birthday cake by VNSNY President and CEO Marki Flannery and Henry Street’s Executive Director, David Garza. September 12, 2018–“Care is moving out of the hospital and into the home – and that’s where we are.” – David Rosales, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer As an important next step in VNSNY’s strategic planning process, dozens of staff members from across the organization came together over the past few weeks in a series of strategy workshops, generating hundreds of ideas. This four-minute video brings you inside these workshops, offering a look at how staff input is impacting our strategy. As David Rosales notes in the video, “The focus of our work going forward will be identify opportunities, to redesign our processes, and really invest in the tools and technologies that will really allow our staff to spend more time on what they’re passionate about.” The Take-Away: This short video takes you inside the process that will shape VNSNY’s strategic vision for the future.

Remembering 9/11

September 11, 2018–The following article is dedicated to the memory of those who died in the attacks of September 11, 2001, and to those who served in a rescue and recovery capacity that day and in the weeks afterward. With the Launch of Our New “Touching Lives” Marketing Campaign, VNSNY Is All Over Town

August 28, 2018–VNSNY is rolling out its new fall marketing campaign—and it’s making a splash all over town! As of this week…     1,200 overhead ads for VNSNY have been placed in New York City subway cars… …digital posters are running on screens in 50 subway entrance stairwells across Manhattan… …ads are posted on phone kiosks near six of our major hospital referrers… …and almost 200 New York City buses are featuring VNSNY ads on their side panels. The campaign also includes a series of digital banners… …and multilingual print ads in local publications, showing VNSNY clinicians caring for patients under the headline, “Touching 48,000 Lives Every Day.” And starting in early September, VNSNY street banners will also be posted in the Grand Central area surrounding our new offices at 220 East 42nd Street to coincide with VNSNY’s arrival in our new neighborhood. Marki Flannery Named One of NY’s “Notable Women in Health Care”

August 7, 2018–We are thrilled to announce that Marki Flannery, VNSNY’s President and CEO, has been selected for the first-ever list of “Notable Women in Health Care” in the New York metropolitan area, published by Crain’s New York Business. In their write-up, Crain’s praised Marki as “a stable presence at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York since 1982,” where her accomplishments have included building Partners in Care into the largest licensed home care agency in the New York City area—adding that when the organization’s CEO position became vacant, VNSNY’s Board “immediately chose her for the top spot.” Noting that VNSNY is the nation’s largest non-profit home care agency with over 48,500 patients and members in its care on any given day, Crain’s goes on to cite Marki as “a national expert on the challenges facing the home care industry.” With this wonderful recognition, the rest of the New York metro area—and the nation—are reminded of what we know

An Interview with David Rosales, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer

August 2, 2018–David Rosales is already familiar to many VNSNY staff members from his previous service with the organization, which included eight years in VNSNY’s Performance and Innovation Department—most recently as the department’s Vice President. Future Nurses, Engineers, and an Artist: Summer Interns Are Making a Difference at VNSNY

July 26, 2018–VNSNY Recruitment Assistant Allison Hui’s responsibilities include managing the organization’s Business Summer Internship Program. This summer, 53 paid college interns are working to support various VNSNY departments.
