Stand Strong, Be Inspired! Let’s Raise the Flag with Pride!

June 29, 2020

June is Pride Month. These past few weeks, Pride events have been coinciding with ongoing Black Lives Matter protests throughout the nation. Both movements are, at their heart, a call for human rights for all.

The Pride movement is rooted in protest, including resistance against police brutality and violence. In fact, the Stonewall Inn uprising – which began 51 years ago on June 28th, set off the LGBTQ movement – led by black and Hispanic drag queens and trans women.

Drag queens inspired a human rights revolution at Stonewall in 1969. Today, they still inspire during this historic moment of social change.

To celebrate Pride and to help mitigate the disappointment that, due to COVID-19, there was no NYC Pride March yesterday, we asked six drag queen superstars to sing songs of inspiration.

If you’re looking to feel inspired (particularly if you’re feeling down that there was no Pride March yesterday), take a moment to watch these uplifting at-home performances.
