VNSNY Hands Out 20,000 Masks to Chinatown Residents — See the Video and Photos!

October 29, 2020

On Monday, October 26th, staff at the VNSNY Chinatown Community Center, in partnership with Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer and Council member Margaret Chin, handed out 20,000 free facemasks to local residents.

The disposable protective masks had been donated by the Chinese American Medical Society. “Thanks to their generosity, we handed out 1,000 VNSNY tote bags in an hour’s time,” reports Teresa Lin, Director of Cultural Market Development Initiatives. “Hundreds of people lined up before 9:00 am. We are very grateful to be able to help protect the community in the fight against COVID-19 by reinforcing the use of masks.”

Each colorful CHOICE re-usable shopping bag contained 20 facemasks, a water bottle (donated by the Tai Look Merchants Association), educational information on COVID-19 and VNSNY CHOICE, as well as a copy of a special Chinese-language VNSNY CHOICE 2021 calendar.
